Purpose, Goals and Outcomes
Purpose
The SIAB serves in an advisory role and provides advice, input, and recommendations to campus on the following:
- Security and privacy needs and priorities of campus
- Communications, processes, and procedures needed related to security and privacy
- Needed investments in technologies and services for current security and privacy solutions
- New investment and resource needs that align with current and future university security and privacy needs, address security and privacy gaps, and enable the university to achieve its mission
Goals
- Improve user technology experiences through seamless, contextual security capabilities
- Advance the development of secure, turn‐key research environments that help researchers win grants and successfully complete their discovery activities
- Facilitate innovative and creative uses of data that impacts research, student success, and public engagement and is enabled by secure, anonymized, governed, and ethical availability of data
- Enable people, process, and products to facilitate an information risk aware culture and ensure timely emerging threat response activities and coordination
The SIAB will:
- Recommend a five‐year program plan that identifies programmatic and annual goals and objectives to improve security and privacy;
- Produce an annual report to the Provost and Council of Deans explaining the progress made against the plan’s goals and objectives;
- Provide regular input that is representative of the campus to the Privacy and Security Office related to projects and initiatives that are created to support the five‐year program plan; and,
- Assist the Privacy and Security Office in communicating program efforts to campus and act as security evangelist.
