Researchers, faculty and staff who maintain code associated with the University of Illinois have a responsibility to comply with Illinois Cybersecurity standards.
The Cybersecurity Development and Assurance team:
- Provides individualized guidance to campus development teams on best practices for Cybersecurity outcomes
- Publishes KnowledgeBase resources that help campus developers meet their responsibility to comply with campus IT standards
- Maintains custom automation supporting agile response by the Cybersecurity Operations Center to cybersecurity incidents and indications of compromise
Any campus IT professional can start an engagement by emailing a request to securitysupport@illinois.edu.
Unless the request details merit a different approach, we will start by scheduling a discussion starting from these Vulnerability Prevention Discussion Questions,
Common requests include:
- How do I write this code securely?
- Is there an existing solution for a problem my team is facing?
- Are there tools for my team’s framework that make patching code libraries easier?
- How do I start with automated testing?
- When should I use unit, integration or regression testing?
- How can I improve my unit tests?
- Can I automate this?
- Can these solutions run in my Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipeline?
- I’m stuck.
Developers are encouraged to review Cybersecurity Resources for Developers in the Campus Knowledge Base and reach out to schedule an engagement at securitysupport@illinois.edu
